Carolyn Strickland, MSW, LICSW
Adoption Social Worker
Carolyn has worked in the adoption field since 2002, with both international and domestic adoption experience. She joined Agape in January of 2017. Prior to 2002, she worked for 10 years as the Director of Social Work and the Director of Admissions at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the department of Child Development/Pediatrics. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, she provided direct care and evaluation services to families and children with special needs and was the Social Worker for the Child Development Center’s Autism Clinic and the Early Intervention Clinic. She was also involved in research into the early diagnosis of autism. She started an outreach clinic providing developmental evaluation services to young children in state custody, in cooperation with Child Protective Services and Tennessee’s Early Intervention System, and she was part of a Foster Care Review Board for the county juvenile court system. Prior to her work with Vanderbilt’s Child Development Center, she worked at the Vanderbilt Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital, providing direct treatment to families and children experiencing mental health emergencies. Carolyn is married to Dr. Bryan Strickland and they have two children.
